TiVo Comes To The UK Thanks To Virgin Media

TiVo is making a lot of headlines lately, after the announcement of the new TiVo Premiere model launch, we now hear that Virgin Media will offer the DVR’s to its 3.8 million subscriber base this year. It’s not the first time the UK market has seen TiVo, Sky satellite tv offered the box back in 2000. However, after some ‘difficulties’ Sky dropped TiVo in 2003 and created their own set-top recorder.

The move could see TiVo a major player in the European DVR market, which it needs after posting a $10.2 million loss in the Q4 of 2009. The company enjoyed massive popularity in the US when launched as it was the only DVR available. But now almost all cable providers have a DVR set-top boxe available.
